The
painter's suitcase
My workshops combine the enriching
experience of traveling and the practice of painting, in a small friendly
group often composed of different nationalities. The destinations are
chosen among the most beautiful and inspirational.
I've
taken groups to Provence, Normandy, Sicily, with participants from USA,
Argentina, Norway, Austria, Italy. Always a surprising sharing experience of
language, and culture far from the hustle and routine,
as they testify.
Who's qualified
Amateur or professional painters and non-painters companions are welcome.
Beginners are supposed to be motivated to work hard.
The typical day
Right after breakfast, the morning class will take place in the garden of
the residence. The session includes lectures and assignments. After lunch
and a little time off for reading, swimming, walking, we'll visit the
surroundings and local heritage, alternating visits
to plein air painting.
At sunset we'll stop for a drink and then dine at a local restaurant or
enjoy the excellent cuisine of our
hosts, and celebrate with good wine.
What
you bring hom e
Experienced painters will come home with a new collection of works full of
light and inspiration. Beginners with plenty of notes and tests to practice
later in the year. For all of us, a lot of enthusiasm and motivation, special
memories and the addresses of new friends.
I lead the workshop personally and take care of you in English, French
and Italian.

The workshop program
The
main purpose of the workshop is to take the student to the next skill
level. Outdoor painting in a small group also helps in gaining
self-confidence, decision-making and synthesis ability. The morning session
includes demonstrations on the day topic and exercises, followed by freer
painting.
The course ends up with a critique meeting.
Media & Topics No matter the media (oil, acrylic, watercolor) we'll study
composition, tonal structure, color theory, brushwork and expressive
concepts. For each media: tools, medium, processing, and direct 'alla
prima' painting.
The method is adapted to the level and attitude of each painter.
Beginners will take advantage of an intensive week of practice. Experts can
also experiment new expressive strategies. You all suggested to submit
some artwork before enrolling.
